Listed here are our regular annual Events |
| TV Auction |
Every March since 1992, in co-operation with the Clinton
Kinsmen and Kinettes and the Goderich Kinettes, we have televised on
Bluewater TV Cable Ch. 12, our Annual TV Auction. This project
started as an effort to convert the Menesetung Bridge from a CPR railway
trestle into a walking bridge where it crosses the Maitland river at its
mouth in Goderich. As one of our two major annual fundraisers, the
TV Auction is also the greatest single CF fundraiser for our club. |
| Spring & Fall Social Gaming Events |
Every April and November, the club holds our Social Gaming
Event and Buffet Dinner. This has been a popular event for
decades. Only 500 tickets are sold for this event, which includes
a 6:00 and 11:00 dinner, and admission to the gaming floor where we
operate Black Jack, Crown and Anchors, and an elimination draw.
These events are licenced by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of
Ontario. |
| Easter Egg Hunt |
If you haven't seen 10,000 chocolate eggs disappear within
45 seconds before, then you haven't been to the Goderich Square on
Easter Weekend Saturday. OK, sometimes it takes almost a minute
when there's snow on the ground, but it goes to show parents how good
kids really are at cleaning up. |
| Summerfest |
The summer is a great time to enjoy the beautiful weather
and attractions in the "Prettiest Town in Canada", but it just
wouldn't be summer without Kinsmen Summerfest. Every July between
the Canada Day and Civic Holiday weekends, the Kinsmen hosts a three day
celebration of Summer. Included in the events are a daily
refreshment tent, a huge family carnival, volleyball and slow-pitch
tournaments, and to top it off the famous nightly entertainment.
Thursday we have music by DJ, Friday we heat things up with a live band,
and for the finale, Saturday night we hold the Lip Sync Contest, where
everyone has the opportunity to jump up on stage and make a performance
of their choice for cash prizes. The Kinsmen Summerfest is the
"unofficial" annual reunion of both locals and those returning
to Goderich to meet up with old pals. |
| Santa Claus Parade |
One of the most important jobs of the Kinsmen Club through
the year is to ensure safe transportation of St. Nick himself from the
North Pole, and then make sure he arrives back home to continue his busy
schedule. While we have him in Goderich, we make sure as many of
the children have a chance to see him as possible. Sometimes he
rides by rocket, other times by sleigh, but we always get the job
done. We host the Santa Claus Float in the parade, as well as
sponsor two matinee movies at the Park Theatre for anyone to watch free
of charge. |
| New Year's Eve Dance |
Most people resolve to do something good for themselves
around New Years. It seems that our New Year's Resolution, or
should I say New Millennium's Resolution is to host a bigger
party. Since no one could decide when the Third Millennium began,
we decided to join them instead of fight them. We had two parties,
one at the end of 1999 and the other at the end of 2000. We still
haven't decided who's right, or if anyone's right, so we are planning
our next New Year's Eve Gala for the end of 2001.
Until the end of 1999, the Kinsmen hosted a successful yet quiet
dance for 300 people in the auditorium of our local arena. Since
then, we have gone bigger. 1000 people on the arena floor - and
NO, it's not cold. We bring in a live band to heat things
up. We are planning on hosting the same arena floor dance for
years to come - or at least until someone decides when the
Millennium changes!

Blood Donor Clinics |
We have been involved for many years organizing and
assisting at the three Blood Donor Clinics that take place each year in
Goderich. There is always a need for all types of blood. We
encourage everyone who is able to give blood as often as possible. |

Cystic Fibrosis
|
Cystic Fibrosis steals the breath of many Canadians.
The National Service Project of the Kinsmen and Kinette Clubs of Canada
is to find a cure or control for this disease. In the past 28
years, Kinsmen and Kinettes have made donations of around $30 Million
toward the fight against CF, and in this time, we have seen the life
expectancy of a child born with CF increase from their early teens to
their 30's, 40's and beyond. With the help of the public in this
fight, we will beat CF. |
| The Fundraisers and Service Projects that are
carried out by the Kinsmen Club of Goderich are only as effective as the
involvement and participation we receive from the public. We take
this opportunity to thank everyone for their dedication to our
projects. The community revolves around your kind of support. |
